Age Concern Scotland is an independent, recognised charity working throughout Scotland to help make the lives of older people more secure, comfortable, dignified and enjoyable.

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is an independent professional body representing those who work in environmental health and related disciplines. It has charitable status and its primary function is the promotion of the knowledge and understanding of environmental health issues. There are approximately 9,500 members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Co-operative Group

The Co-operative Group is the largest consumer co-operative organisations in the UK. It is owned by its members, comprising other Co-ops who use services it provides and individual members, who shop in its stores. The Co-operative Group has over 1,500 food stores, as well as farms, a bank, funeral branches, car dealers, travel agents, pharmacies etc. It is a leader for fair trade and sells more fairly traded products, in more stores, than any other retailer.

European Centre, International Council of Women

ECICW is the European Centre of the International Council of Women (ICW). It has consultative status with the Council of Europe and, through ICW, with the UN. ECICW's aim is to make women's opinions heard and to promote their participation in decision-making at national and European levels; to support human rights and to eliminate all kinds of discrimination; and to encourage sustainable development and peace. Some its recent areas of work within Europe include prevention of trafficking in women; violence against women; refugees; poverty; fair trade; food safety and work of the EFSA.

European Food Law Association (UK)

The European Food Law Association (EFLA) is an international scientific association that has as its essential goal to study and to promote Food Law, as well as to contribute to its development and to its international harmonisation under conditions taking into account at the same time its specificity, its interdisciplinary nature and its special function, the protection of the consumers.

European Union of Women - British Section

The European Union of Women, founded in 1954 in Austria, is an organisation of groups of women in 20 countries, working in commissions for the strengthening of peace and justice. They meet or correspond regularly, exchanging views and ideas to further mutual understanding and to encourage members to play an active role in political and public life. EUW is affiliated to the Council of Europe.

Consumer Council for Northern Ireland

The General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland was set up by government in 1985 to promote and safeguard the interests of consumers in Northern Ireland. It is funded by the Department of Enterprise,Trade and Investment. The Council champions the cause of consumers giving them a voice - and makes sure that voice is heard by those who make decisions which affect consumers. The Council carries out research, publishes reports, seeks to influence both the public and private sectors, and campaigns for a fair deal.

Girlguiding UK

Girlguiding UK is the UK's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women with more than more than 600,000 members and is part of an international organisation with over 10 million members worldwide. Girlguiding UK, as part of a worldwide movement, enables girls and young women to fulfil their potential and to take an active and responsible role in society through its distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities delivered by trained volunteer leaders.

Good Housekeeping Institute

Good Housekeeping Institute provides editorial matter for all the food and equipment features as well as the consumer service section of Good Housekeeping Magazine. It also runs a readers’ advisory service.

The Guild of Food Writers

The Guild of Food Writers is a professional association of food writers and broadcasters in the UK. Established in 1984, the Guild has over 350 authors, columnists, freelance journalists and broadcasters amongst its members.

Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC)

HMC is a non profit making organisation set up to monitor, inspect and certify Halal products, in particular the Halal meat and poultry sector.

The Hindu Council UK's main purpose is to give the UK Hindus an effective voice on policy matters.

The Hyperactive Children's Support Group (HACSG)

HACSG is a registered charity which has been successfully helping ADHD/Hyperactive children and their families for nearly 30 years. The HACSG is Britain's leading proponent of a dietary approach to the problem of hyperactivity.

International Consumer Research and Testing

ICRT is an association of 44 consumer organisations from 40 countries worldwide. It aims to promote co-operation in consumer research and testing among its members and other organisations concerned with consumer matters. ICRT also aims to develop better test methods for consumer goods and services, and to encourage the development of good consumer testing facilities.

Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES)

IFEES was established in the mid 1980s. It is an internationally recognised body articulating the Islamic position on ecology and environmental sciences. Its objectives include research and the dissemination of information, producing teaching materials, books and journals, training on practical and theoretical subjects and setting up an experimental centre focusing on land use and organic farming and also the development of alternative technology

Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services (LACORS)

LACORS (Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services), formerly LACOTS, was set up in 1978 to co-ordinate the enforcement activities of trading standards services. Subsequently it took on the additional responsibility of co-ordinating food enforcement and its regulatory remit continues to widen. LACORS vision is to make a major contribution to the development of high quality, consistent and co-ordinated local authority regulatory and related services across the UK.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB)

The Muslim Council of Britain is a large umbrella Muslim body with about 400 Affiliates (mosques, organisations, institutions etc). MCB has many committees and daily activities on all issues concerning Muslims. It is the Muslim 'spokesman' organisation with different government departments.

The National Childbirth Trust

The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is the largest and best-known childbirth and parenting charity in Europe and is run by parents for parents. It is the voice of parents on antenatal, birth and postnatal issues. NCT provides a range of quality educational and support services for parents at local level and promote the principle of informed choice for women and their partners. NCT is a membership organisation with over 60,000 members across the UK.

National Consumer Federation

The National Consumer Federation co-ordinates and represents at a national level the work and opinions of voluntary, independent local Consumer Groups with reference to the key guiding principles of choice, information, representation, access to goods and services, quality and fairness and redress.

National Council of Women of Great Britain

The National Council of Women is a voluntary organisation with local branches, individual members and about 70 affiliated societies. It works to promote equality of opportunity for women and to enable them to participate effectively at all levels, and in all aspects, of the life of the community. NCW is a member of the International Council of Women, and has special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

National Federation of Women's Institutes

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes aims to improve and develop the conditions of rural life. It provides a wide range of social, cultural and educational opportunities for its members whose views on issues of public concern are represented to appropriate bodies. The WI is involved internationally with organisations including the Associated Country Women of the World and the Confederation of Family Organisations in the EC (COFACE).

Scottish Women's Rural Institutes (SWRI)

Scottish Women's Rural Institutes are groups of women who meet together in centres throughout Scotland. SWRI is one of the largest women's organisations in Scotland and has about 25,000 members. Amongst its aims are to advance the education and training of those who live and work in the country, or are interested in country life, in home skills, family welfare and citizenship and to promote the preservation of Scotland's traditions and its rural heritage.

Soroptimist International GBI

Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. Founded in 1921, its membership has grown to nearly 95,000 women across the world.

Trading Standards Institute

The Trading Standards Institute (formerly the Institute of Trading Standards Administration, ITSA) has represented the interests of Trading Standards professionals for 120 years. Amongst its many activities, it provides services and support to professional trading standards officers, other officers employed by local authorities who provide advice to consumers and ensure fair trading. These services include education, training and further professional development for its Members. The Institute plays a key role with UK Central Government, the European Commission, and Parliament in debates and dialogues on legislation relating to consumers, fair trading and market control, and responds to many consultation documents. The Institute also co-operates with a range of other bodies whose interests include consumer protection and fair trading, and meets regularly with BSI and the CBI.

Welsh Consumer Council

The Welsh Consumer Council was established in 1975. It aims to be the authoritative voice of consumers in Wales by working with consumers and others to present their interests and needs to industry, commerce and government. The Council also works with other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector developing projects on consumer related issues.

Which?

Which? (formerly the Consumers' Association) is a wholly independent organisation dedicated to conducting research into consumer goods and services and to campaigning on behalf of consumers in general. It is also a registered charity. The organisation's principal trading arm is Which? Ltd. which is the publisher of "Which?" and the organisation's other magazines as well as a range of book titles.

Women's Food and Farming Union

Founded in 1979, WFU is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting an understanding of and confidence in all aspects of quality British produce.

Women's National Commission

The Women’s National Commission is the official independent advisory body to the government, acting as a channel of communication between Government and women’s organisations. The WNC is responsible for ensuring by all possible means that the informed opinion of women is given its due weight in the deliberations of government. The WNC represents a wide and diverse range of women’s interests through its partners.
